Safe, Safer and Safest
In the light of your presence, in the fragrance of your essence, in the sound of your voice, even if distant. I am safe.
In crevasse of your shadow, in the promise of seeing you tomorrow, in the mildest hope of the heaviest sorrow. I am still safe.
I am safer though, in the truth of your guilt, in the trust we’ve built, and how you grow and learn at my will.
I am safer also in the atonements you make, the risks you take, the pleasure you forsake, to keep me protected, secured and safe.
When am I safest, you ask ?
I’m safest in the depth of your character. In the strength that you bear, in the force of your determination and in the kindness of your heart.
I’m safest in the heartiest morsel of your meal, in the funniest sound of your laughter and in the comfort of your breath as you sleep.
I’m safest where I’m most myself.
I’m safest when I am loved the way I love.
I’m safest when I can be, I can do and I can sleep.
I’m safest when there is peace in my heart and all my promises have been kept.
I’m safest when I’m with myself.
